Fancy a getaway just a stone’s throw from Tours? Head for the vineyards of Montlouis-Vouvray, where three cycle routes await you: the Saint-Jacques, the Cœur de France and the famous Loire à Vélo.
Chromatic at Maison Laudacius
Start your trip by cycling along the Loire à Vélo route from Tours towards Montlouis-sur-Loire. In just 45 minutes, you’ll reach the vineyards and their cellars, including the new wine tourism visitor centre ‘Chromatic’ at Maison Laudacius. A fully immersive tour exploring the history and flavours of Chenin in the heart of a stunning cave-dwelling wine cellar.
Booking required, duration 1 hour, tasting of 3 wines, €8 per person.
Photo spot: whilst exploring the vineyards along your route, stop for a photo at this spot well-known to locals: the hanging swing!
To round off your day in Montlouis-sur-Loire in style, raise a glass by the water at the Ligaya open-air café, where you can let your hair down with friends in the leisure park and enjoy a drink with some appetiser platters.
Boat trip in Veretz
Starting once again from Tours, the Cœur de France à vélo cycle route takes you through the natural, cultural and riverine heritage of the Cher riverbanks: lock-keepers’ houses, needle dams, Renaissance castles and other points of interest.
Uncertain weather? Check the weather live via the Montlouis-Vouvray tourist office webcam located in Véretz.
In Véretz, the Jean Bricau II boatmen’s association offers a new perspective on the channelled Cher during a guided trip aboard their fûtreau. By bringing your own earphones or headphones, you can also immerse yourself in an immersive audio experience with the ‘J’aime le Cher’ audio tour (duration: 1 hour).
Escape game at the Cave des Producteurs de Vouvray
To round off your cycling trip, set off from Tours, cross the Fil Bridge and join the Saint-Jacques cycle route towards Vouvray and its famous wines. The Vouvray Producers’ Cellar awaits you to take part in one of its two immersive escape games: ‘The Guild of St Martin’ for teams of 2 to 8 players (book online) and ‘Save Private Vouvray’, a tabletop game for groups of up to 30 people (book by email or phone).
Cycling works up an appetite! Head to the vineyards in Chançay and the Domaine de Roche Blonde in Vernou-sur-Brenne, where you can enjoy authentic country-style meals amidst the vines (in the cave-dwelling cellar if the weather turns) accompanied by the estate’s wines (booking required).
Finally, on your way back, follow the lights and music coming from the Rochecorbon open-air café. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxing time by the Loire with friends: bar, food, traditional dance music, and a games area. We guarantee a warm and friendly atmosphere!
