Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 August 2025 from 10.30am to 7pm Marmoutier Abbey Antiquity once again comes to the gates of the town during this weekend event, when the Marmoutier site is covered with Roman, Gallic and Germanic camps. Children of all ages can discover the daily life of the period, from weaving and cooking to coin minting. Try your hand at firing the scopio, the Roman legions' formidable artillery piece, the bow and the pilum, or learn all about the equipment used by soldiers and gladiators. Feast your eyes on the antics of Faunus, god of wild nature, get your strength back at the Gallo-Roman tavern, and watch the demonstrations in the entertainment areas. New for 2025: The Galates company will present an evocation of ancient music with an exhibition of 50 instruments, demonstrations and original interpretations of ancient Greco-Roman works. Gallia Musica will also be on hand for musical strolls. The Herba Rufula company will also be on hand with the “Pharmakopolium de Galena”, presenting various ancient medicines and treatments. Please note: An on-site ticket office will be available.
