Michelin-starred chefs, exceptional restaurants and produce from France's ‘Garden’: Touraine shines brightly! Discover the nine Michelin-starred restaurants that dot the region.
L'Évidence
Since 1926, the famous red guide has been rewarding exceptional restaurants based on five criteria: the quality of the produce, the harmony of flavours, technical mastery, the chef's personality as expressed in their cuisine, and the consistency of the menu as a whole. This prestigious distinction is awarded each year at an official ceremony in March. Here is an overview of the Michelin-starred restaurants in Touraine!
The Pom’Poire Inn
Located in the heart of the family orchards, in a contemporary building made of wood and metal, Auberge Pom’Poire is sure to impress. Michelin-starred chef Bastien Gillet offers an inventive menu, where every ingredient is carefully selected: high-quality meat, fresh seafood and fruit and vegetables sourced primarily from the Loire region. These are paired with a selection of wines chosen by his wife, Emilie, a sommelier and daughter of an artisan winemaker.
Discover these dishes through the ‘instinct menus’ offering 3, 5, 7 or 9 courses, depending on your appetite.
To extend your stay, Auberge Pom'Poire also offers guest rooms***, including three ‘signature cabins’ decorated with wood, wicker, glass and zinc, surrounded by nature.

The Castle of Pray
This four-star château hotel has everything you could wish for: a 13th-century château, 5 hectares of wooded grounds, close proximity to the greatest châteaux of the Loire Valley, a heated swimming pool below, but above all... the L'Orangerie restaurant, an exceptional establishment run by Michelin-starred chef Arnaud Philippon.
In a troglodytic setting carved out of tuffeau stone, the chef offers dishes with local and international influences, but always inspired by ‘the Garden of France’. The signature dessert not to be missed? The warm Touraine blackcurrant soufflé.

L’Opidom
After training in exceptional restaurants under three-starred chefs, Jérôme Roy took over L’Opidom in 2019 with his wife Valérie and earned his first star in 2021. His creations break with the conventions of classic cuisine, combining ingredients with a focus on harmony of colours and flavours. The chef's finishing touch? Incorporating citrus fruits and spices from around the world into his creations, his two favourite ingredients!
In terms of atmosphere, L'Opidom offers a contemporary and refined décor with a view of the royal river from the bay window.

Arbore & Sens
Arbore & Sens has been awarded one Michelin star since 2023, three Ecotables macarons and the Grand Prix du Public at the Fork Awards in 2021: an impressive list of accolades that rewards not only Clément Dumont's expertise, but also his environmental and social commitment.
Originally from Touraine, the chef honed his skills in Saint-Barthélémy, Courchevel and Australia before returning to his native region. His motto? Promote local produce. You might bump into him at the market in Loches, visiting producers in the countryside, at vineyards in the Loire Valley, at the cutlery shop in Chinon, or even in his vegetable garden in Bridoré, which he cultivates with his sister-in-law Mayliss. The result? Exceptional dishes, finely crafted and paired with wines selected by his wife, sommelier Océane Dumont.

L’Evidence
An old 16th-century building, contemporary artworks on the walls, refined and modern furniture: the stage is set for you to immerse yourself in the gastronomic world of Chef Gaëtan Evrard. He finds inspiration in his childhood memories of gathering wild plants, as well as in his encounters with the region's artisans of taste. His dishes are guided by the raw ingredients, which he transcribes with finesse onto the plate and adds his ‘satellite’ elements: garnishes, sauces and condiments. The menu is also influenced by the importance he attaches to wines, with nearly 800 references in the cellar, including 450 from the Centre-Val de Loire region.

L’Auberge du XIIe siècle
In Balzac country, in Saché, Stéphanie Marques and Kévin Gardien earned their first Michelin star in 2024. Their cuisine is guided by the seasons and their values: authentic dishes, ‘like in the old days’, made with locally sourced ingredients (poultry from Gabriel Simon in Ingrandes-de-Touraine, vegetables from Nicolas in Villaine-les-Rocher, microgreens from Géopoussetout in Veigné, etc.). The menu also features an eight-course meal inspired by the works of visual artist Alexandre Calder, whose studio (now an artists' residence) is located just 2 km away.

In 2019, a new concept was introduced in the Michelin Guide: green stars. This award encourages and rewards establishments committed to eco-responsible practices, such as choosing locally sourced products, respecting seasonality and reducing food waste.
In Touraine, two establishments hold the green star:
Les Roseaux Pensants
This unique restaurant, run by Stéphane Enault in the kitchen and Laurène Attia front of house, is committed to sustainable, locally sourced food. This is reflected in the daily harvest, drinks fermented on site using plants from the garden, vegan options and menus exclusively sourced from local producers.
In 2025, the restaurant will offer food workshops open to the public by reservation (lactofermentation, homemade infusions, sourdough bread, etc.).

Les Jardiniers – Chef Martin Bolaers
Led by Chef Martin Bolaers, former sous chef at the Abbaye de Fontevraud gourmet restaurant, Les Jardiniers offers creative cuisine inspired by nature. Here, all the vegetables, herbs, edible flowers and fruits on the menu are grown using agroecological methods in the restaurant's 5,000 m² vegetable garden and orchard. The restaurant's commitment extends to the dining room, with furniture sourced entirely from local flea markets or made to measure.

DID YOU KNOW?
The guide was originally created in the early 20th century by the two brothers who founded the tyre manufacturer, André and Edouard Michelin, to help motorists find their way around. It included recommendations for places to stay and eat, as well as a list of nearby doctors' surgeries, garages and sunrise and sunset times to avoid dangerous driving on poorly lit roads! It was not until 1926 that the ‘stars’ were invented to reward the best restaurants.
